To find inspiration, some photographers do workshops, some watch you tube videos, some follow blogs…us at Colagrossi Studio and our friends at Della Terra Photo like to disappear into the moutains. After snagging an amazing Groupon for a secluded cabin in the North Carolina Smokies (score one for Tarah) the four of us packed up our gear and an amazing amout of craft beer and ciders and literally headed for the hills.
I highly recommend Hidden Creek Cabins, our beautiful farmhouse was more than we could have asked for and an A+ for secenery.
Our first visitor, a presumed stray we dubbed “Doug Dog.” We and other cabin dwellers took him under our wing for a bit 🙂
With a 30 degree difference between NC and home, we quickly took advantage of the wamth and set out for a morning hike along a small waterfall.
Shooting digitally can sometimes cause you to take photography – and photographs in general – for granted. Our primary focus for the trip was shooting film, but we still managed to get some digitals of our besties during our trip 🙂
Day two was even more beautiful than day one 🙂 So back outside we go.
Last but not least, the funny photo of the trip — Josh and Tarah caught in a bicker, Josh coping, and I’m egging them on lol!!
Its been a good year! Mitch and I survived a couple of apocalypses, our busiest wedding season EVER, and the holidays…I would count this year as an achievement. Mitch and I ventured out into our first big snow storm of 2012 (which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment, if I do say so) to photograph ourselves and one another :). Capture credits go to Mitch’s dad and sister for pulling the trigger for us!
Stay tuned for our year-end recap! In the meantime, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Enjoy the time you have with your friends and family~
When a graphic designer falls in love with a brewmaster, an epic wedding is destined to happen. Tarina and Jerod’s wedding was a fun and gorgeous affair focused on nothing else but fun and love…and zobmies and Tarina’s amazing shoes. 🙂
The ceremony and reception were both held at the Dupont Downs (one of Mitch and I’s FAVORITE venues to photograph) and their invitations were hand made and designed by Tarina herself. Check out all the amazing details!
We were lucky enough to be able to shoot at Dupont Downs again! Sharon has outdone herself on this wedding, I just love the natural light!
Congratulations Tarina and Jerod! Thanks again for the good time 🙂

I LOVED this wedding, better yet, I LOVED this couple. Tracy and Matt are the kind of people where anyone can tell they are in love…just by looking at them. Not necessarily in a PDA, “I love you so much I could eat your face” kind of way, but more in the old world style of Grace Kelly and Rhett Butler films. They just emit love.
Mitch and I were lucky enough to spend the entire day with these two, and we couldn’t have been happier about it. Their friends welcomed us as part of the wolf pack and put up with us while running around downtown Goshen all afternoon. Best. group. ever.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Rendall and to all of their friends and family! We hope to cross paths again in the future!
